Cardinia Combined Churches Caring (The 4C's) Crisis Relief Centre and Food Bank has been operating now for 14 years servicing the needy, disadvantaged and those in crisis within the Cardinia Shire.
The centre is a not for profit charity. Its services include food supplies, crisis accommodation, no interest loans for whitegoods, furniture, medical equipment etc, assistance with paying utility accounts, rent arrears, pharmacy accounts, firewood and water purchases; Christmas hampers and toys, baby formula and nappies, education programs in budgeting and living on low incomes, education programs on cooking low cost healthy meals, drug/alcohol rehabilitation, material aide, financial advice, access to psychologists, daily bread distribution, friendship and support. We also have outreach centres in two areas of our large shire and we operate a local charity store.
In 2009 we serviced approximately 20,000 individuals and presently we are faced with a growing daily clientele. As a charity we need to raise approximately $350,000 per year to keep our many services available to those in need.
Within our shire a quarter of the population is living in crisis. There is a daily growing number of needy, disadvantaged and in crisis residents that cannot feed or house themselves or their families. Our aim is to provide our ever growing clientele and their families with a variety of assistance that can move them past their point of need and to a more secure future.
